Niki and Ben
Niki and Ben (a poem by Judy Schilling)

I see her now chasing chipmunks through the rocks and wood.

On a pouring rain day when her people dug with tears pouring down
A place prepared but not prepared for.

He waited at the top of the stairs. Waterfalling boy, ever ready dog.

Full moon lit the digging while the young bucks wandered unstartled.
In the cold another bed.

More of Judy's poems, with my pictures, can be seen here.
